Which Wedding Dress Designer Will Lauren Sanchez Choose?
Ahead of the Bezos’ upcoming nuptials in the winter wonderland of Aspen in December, we look at which wedding dress designer bride Lauren Sanchez could tap for her wedding day ensemble.
If you thought the Ambani wedding was the wedding of the year, you thought wrong. While details are scant on the ground regarding the event itself, the upcoming nuptials of Jeff Bezos, 60, and his bride-to-be promise to be an event to remember, with A-list celebrities and other high-society butterflies afoot and eager to attend. After all, why be the second richest man in the world if you can’t spend your billions on hosting the wedding of a lifetime?
Everything we know about the Bezos wedding
In May 2023, the world’s second richest man Jeff Bezos (who boasts a net worth of USD 246.1 billion) popped the question to Emmy-winning television news anchor, actress, production house owner and pilot Lauren Sanchez, 54. In the months that followed, the couple made news and headlines with appearances at high-profile events with other members of their glitzy high society set. By all accounts, their upcoming winter wedding is set to become the most highly anticipated invite of the year, closing out the events calendar of 2024 in style.
So, what do we know about the Bezos wedding thus far? While the couple has not officially announced their plans, reports have surfaced that point towards Aspen, Colorado, as the likely backdrop for their wintertime extravaganza. The celebrity-favourite municipality has long played host to Hollywood’s rich and famous, ranging from the Kendall Jenner and the Kardashians to Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell who have made Aspen their home for several decades now.
With its natural beauty, rolling hills, and snowy caps that allow for ample skiing and adventuring, Aspen is the perfect winter wonderland for hosting the wedding of the century. Boasting an expansive catalogue of restaurants, designer addresses, calendar of events, and four major ski resorts — Aspen Highlands, Aspen Mountain, Snowmass, and Buttermilk — it is also the perfect place to host the Bezos’ friends, the ranks of which include multi-billionaires, business leaders, and royals alike. Within its ultra-luxurious, ritzy cocoon, those accustomed to the high life will certainly want and need for nothing.
Notably, nothing has been confirmed as the themes, styles, and decor guests can expect at the wedding. Yet, given the backdrop, it’s more than likely the couple plan to leverage the Aspen winter charm, playing to the spirit of the festivities for a truly magical Christmas slash wedding celebration.
As one of the most prominent figures in the world today, Jeff Bezos (of Amazon fame, if you’ve been living under a rock) boasts a high-profile network of friends, business partners, and collaborators. This was particularly evident in August of 2023, when the couple hosted a star-studded engagement party onboard Bezos’ yacht in Positano, Italy, with attendees including fellow billionaire Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Queen Rania of Jordan, among others. This same guest list is expected to carry over to the nuptials — but there’s more.
If you thought the second-richest man in the world would stop at one engagement party, you’d be sorely mistaken. Enter fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg, who graciously hosted a second engagement party for the couple at her Beverly Hills home. Attendees at this lavish fête included Oprah, Salma Hayek, Barbra Streisand, Kris Jenner, Robert Pattinson and Suki Waterhouse among others. Understandably, many key figures in Hollywood are hoping to receive an invite to the glamorous nuptials. Those hoping for a sneak peek at the guest list would do well to study the attendees at key events leading up to the day itself — the aforementioned included.
Lauren Sanchez and her Pinterest wedding board
While Sanchez spent much of September promoting her new children’s book The Fly That Flew To Space, she has since spoken up about her growing enthusiasm and excitement for her wedding. Speaking with Extra TV that same month, Sanchez shared that she was “really excited about [the wedding],” going on to add that Bezos was ‘the man of her dreams’. “He’s amazing. I get to spend the rest of my life with him and he loves my kids. And that is really what I am looking forward to.”
Sanchez revisited her wedding plans on November 20, when she appeared on Today to speak with hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie. During the interview, she revealed a personable side to being rich: Like all other brides, she, too, has a Pinterest board set up for planning her special day. “[I’m] very excited about it, thinking about the dress. I have to say, I do have a Pinterest.” She shared. “I’m just like every other bride, so I do have a Pinterest board.”
For the uninitiated, Pinterest is a social media platform that centres visual content. Through the site, users can save (or ‘pin’) pictures, videos, or articles to specific boards. Over the years, Pinterest has emerged as a useful tool for wedding planners who need to save, organise, and share their ideas for prospective brides — a fact that is not lost on Sanchez as she plans the bash of the year.
To her credit, Sanchez has assumed the primary role in wedding planning, presumably relieving Bezos from all duties beyond footing the bill and showing up. Speaking to Vogue in December 2023, the future Mrs. Bezos appeared to confirm that he would not be involved with the wedding planning, joking, “Do I look that dumb?”
So which designer is Lauren Sanchez trusting with her midwinter wedding dress?
In her December interview with Vogue, Sanchez revealed three of her favourite designers — Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino. In addition to these coveted three, however, which haute fashion house could win the honour of being the wedding dress designer of Lauren Sanchez? We have our guesses.
Dior
Christian Dior loves women, and Lauren Sanchez loves Christian Dior. While Sanchez has not often been photographed wearing Dior, she has been open about her love for the iconic French maison. Most recently, she was seen carrying a custom Dior tote, personalised to promote her new book The Fly Who Flew to Space. While it’s anybody’s guess as to what style of gown Sanchez will end up selecting for her December nuptials, Dior’s chic, yet ladylike ensembles would certainly make a great addition to any wedding day trousseau.
Dolce & Gabbana
If there’s one fashion maison that Lauren Sanchez loves, it’s Dolce & Gabbana. The Italian luxury fashion house is a mainstay in Sanchez’s expansive wardrobe. Most notably, many of Sanchez’s most memorable outfits have been from the house of D&G. Case in point: on January 12 this year, Sanchez posted a photo on Instagram to celebrate her future husband’s 60th birthday, dressed in an exquisite see-through black lace dress from the label worth a jaw-dropping USD 2,095. And that’s not all.

In July, Sanchez made an appearance at the Dolce & Gabbana Alta Saltoria runway show in support of her son, Nikko, as he walked the runway. Unsurprisingly, she was decked out in D&G, wearing a sheer white dress from the label and pairing it with nude heels and statement earrings. Just days prior, she arrived via Italy’s Cagliari Airport, wearing a strapless silk midi dress in the house’s Majolica print worth USD 2,995.

And, in September of last year, she attended the Kering Foundation’s second annual Caring for Women Dinner in New York, dressed in a crystal-adorned buttercup yellow halter gown, also from the label. Given Sanchez’s long held love of Dolce and its timeless ensembles, a custom gown from the label could very well be in the cards for the wedding.
Valentino
Among Sanchez’s top three designers for the wedding, Italian design label Valentino is known to leverage a ‘glitterati’ chic style, leaning into feminine details and materials like lace, silk, and chiffon. Given Sanchez’s penchant for stealing the spotlight with her exquisite (and very pricy) ensembles, it would come as no surprise if she tapped the luxury maison for a custom piece with which to walk down the aisle. The maison has dressed numerous other celebrity brides, including Nicky Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, and Courtney Cox; its impressive list of brides also include royalty the likes of Princess Madeleine of Sweden, Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece, and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
Laura Basci
At her second engagement party held last year, Sanchez leaned fully into the bridal aesthetic by putting on an off-shoulder mini dress from Swiss designer Laura Basci. Featuring a fitted basque waistline that emphasised her exquisite figure, the pure white dress was the perfect little party dress to denote her upcoming marital status. To complete her outfit, Sanchez wore her hair in elegant beach waves, white strappy heels, Kylie Cosmetics lipstick, and a custom-made Lorraine Schwartz necklace. With numerous pre-and-post celebrations events likely to occur in the upcoming days, it would not at all be surprising if Sanchez were to tap Basci once again for a wedding ensemble.
Diane Von Furstenberg
While Diane Von Furstenberg is not particularly known to make wedding dresses (the Danish fashion designer rose to fame for her wrap dresses), it would not be outside the realm of reason for her to make a custom creation for her close personal friends’ nuptials. Having hosted the couple’s second engagement party in 2023, Von Furstenberg could very well bring her bold and contemporary touch to the Bezos’ winter wonderland wedding.
Alexander McQueen
Earlier this month, Sanchez stole the show at The New York Times BookDeal event, held in New York City, when she arrived in an arresting structured suit that screamed ‘white winter’. A vision in white that left little to the imagination, the form-fitting two-piece suit by Alexander McQueen featured a low-cut blazer with padded shoulders that showed off Sanchez’s lacy white bra and a straight-cut pant. With her hair worn in a chic updo, the bride-to-be further accessorised with a boxy white bag and black heels. While certainly an unconventional choice for nuptials, the sleek suit served as an apt indicator of the maison’s exquisite flair for design. Given Sanchez’s propensity for leaning into modern and daring silhouettes, Alexander McQueen could just end up designing her wedding dress.
Oscar de la Renta
Earlier this year, Lauren Sanchez walked the red carpet at the Met Gala in a black and white velvet ‘shattered glass’ gown by Oscar de la Renta. The exquisite creation featured two thousand hand-dyed mosaic fragments that evoked the imagery of a shattered glass rose, lending a touch of whimsy tempered by the elegance for which the New York-based design house is known. But that’s not all.
Later in the year, Sanchez attended the Kering’s Caring for Women Dinner 2024 during New York Fashion week, dressed in a sleek navy floral number, also by the beloved design house. Made of intricate guipure lace, the off-shoulder gown was made in a fit-and-flare silhouette with a train and featured delicate velvet peony detailing. Having received much praise for her de la Renta looks, it’s possible that Sanchez could seek to recreate the adulation on her special day with a custom design.
Rabanne
In attendance at Coachella 2024, Sanchez rocked up in a glittering silver sequin minidress by Rabanne, worth USD 2,395. Known to incorporate modern and futuristic elements in its designs with metallics often taking centre stage, Rabanne’s aesthetic could very well appeal to the future Mrs. Bezos, who’s no stranger to bling. A chic little minidress from the French luxury label could be make an amazing wedding party piece, perfect for dancing the night away in.
Rasario
In April 2024, Sanchez made waves in the political circles when she attended a White House state dinner, dressed in a daring crimson dress from Rasario. The future Mrs. Bezos looked stunning in the gown, which featured a skin-tight lace-corset bodice and a simple sheath satin skirt. While unconventional, the gown was perfectly fitting for Sanchez, who has never strayed from daring silhouettes. Given that Rasario’s bridal collection features a combination of classic, contemporary, and chic designs that hold widespread appeal for brides of all tastes, Sanchez could very well select a piece from the label to wear during the wedding festivities.
Tom Ford
Long before she secured her very own ring of power, Sanchez was channelling bridal chic on the red carpet at the 2022 Los Angeles premiere of Prime Video’s Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. At the event, which she attended with Bezos, Sanchez rocked a chic and sleek white crepe jersey gown by Tom Ford. Living up the Greek goddess aesthetic, the bride-to-be leveraged the toga-like aesthetics of the asymmetrical gown, adding gold heels, subtle bangles and earrings, and soft curls.
Lever Couture
Earlier in March of this year, Sanchez attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts decked out in a show-stopping creation by Lever Couture. Paired with nude heels, the bright red tulle gown showed off Sanchez’s assets and trim waist whilst making a splash as she posed for photos on the red carpet. With its whimsical, almost fairy-tale silhouette and vivid colouring, the gown perfectly exemplified the bride-to-be’s bold and fashion-forward aesthetic, allowing her to shine whilst showcasing the merits of high-quality tailoring. With Lever Couture’s bridal collection showcasing an interesting melange of silhouettes, could it be the wedding dress designer that Sanchez ends up tapping for her special day?
