The hottest summer fashion trends, according to Pinterest

By now you probably know all about the popularity of “tenniscore” or the return of capris — but what about the rise of the “Y3K aesthetic” or “Nancy Meyers core”?

Those are just a couple of the trends Pinterest is highlighting in its latest Summer 2024 Trend Report. The new report outlines some of the biggest trends of the season across fashion, beauty and home. Pinterest looked at searches for trending items, such as Gingham shorts and vintage dinnerware, as compared to the same time last year, and from there grouped them into larger trends that define the current moment. These ranged from things like “tomboy femme” fashion — which saw a 3900% increase in search interest — to fruit-inspired nails.

The report is packed with fun trends for the season, so we took it upon ourselves to highlight just a handful of our favorites that anyone can try. Keep reading to discover them all.

Corp-core | Patterns and new silhouettes | “Make it big” jewelry | Fruity nails | Y3K aesthetic | Nancy Meyers core

Grace Karin High Waist Pencil Pants

Searches for “corporate chic” outfits have seen a 950% rise, as people look for cute outfits that they can wear to the office and beyond. Shop TODAY writer Danielle Murphy shares that these pants are equally as perfect for in-office days as they are for happy hours or nicer events.

“With the pull-on fit, soft feel and expandable waistline, I can’t imagine anything better to wear during long days of sitting at the office,” she says.

Gap Linen-Cotton Halter Vest

Vest tops have been a huge trend this year and they fit right in the “corp-core” trend. Associate editor Sierra Hoeger owns a different vest (hers is almost sold out) and loves how versatile it is. “It’s so easy to wear and pair with a variety of different things for so many occasions, whether I’m going to the office or having a night out. More recently I’ve been loving to wear it with a silk maxi skirt, to dress it up a little bit for date night or drinks with my friends. It’s just so easy to throw on when going into the office too, helping me look more put together than I feel sometimes! Plus, I always earn so many compliments from coworkers, friends and people on the subway when wearing it out and about.”

We love how this one has an “airy light” texture for hot summer days.

Patterns and new silhouettes

Old Navy High-Waisted Wrap-Front Mini Skort

In its Pinterest Predicts report at the beginning of the year, the company predicted that big and bold fashion would be a huge trend this year — and Pinterest was right. There’s been an increase in interest around many different patterns. For example, searches for “gingham shorts” have risen by 770%. And this skort is a slightly different take.

It has a comfortable elasticized waist and a wrap front, for that classic business in the front party in the back vibe.

A New Day High-Rise Wide Leg Linen Pull-On Pants

Interest in “striped linen pants” has also risen by 195%. These are perfect for summer, thanks to their breezy lightweight material and wide-leg design.

Zaful Strapless 2-Piece Swimsuit

Leopard print bikinis are another hot style right now, with searches spiking by 410%. Shoppers love the flattering high-rise style of this two-piece suit and the comfy fit.

“Make it Big” jewelry

JewelleryJKW Custom Charm Necklace

Bold, maximalist jewelry as a whole is trending, with a 3460% increase in interest in the style. And charm necklaces are one of the hottest styles of the moment. You can customize this necklace with as many as 20 charms (or as little as 1), and they range from letters to rainbows and seashells.

Unncommon James Linked Up Necklace

Searches for “chunky gold jewelry” are also on the rise, with a 700% spike in interest. This chunky necklace has been one of my go-to’s for a couple of years now. I love how seamlessly it pairs with almost any outfit and the other accessories in my collection. It also looks more expensive than it is. And even though I wear it frequently, with proper care (taking it off for showers, swims and workouts), it still looks great.

Fruity nails

Impress Be My One

Go bold with your nails this season and get in on the “fruity nails” trend. Searches for the topic have risen by 175%. These nails are designed to be easy to apply. No glue is needed, so all you need to do is press them on and you’ll be ready for sandal season!

OPI Press On Nails

“Cute strawberry nails” are another trending style, with a 240% uptick in searches. These nails are designed to be reusable, so you can rock the style all summer long!

Y3K aesthetic

Zara Metallic Knit Top

While so many trends now borrow from popular styles or aesthetics we’ve seen in the past, this one is taking a look at the future, bringing us all the way to the year 3000. According to Pinterest, searches for “Y3k outfits” have spiked by 6030%. Unsurprisingly, the styles tend to be futuristic, with a focus on metallics. This metallic knit top is an easy way to get in on the trend.

Cushionaire Bailey Lace-Up Sneaker

These silver sneakers are an easy and stylish way to try out the trend. Even better, the shoes feature comfort foam so they’ll feel just as good as they look.

Nancy Meyers core

Stonebriar Decorative Candle Holder

If you’ve ever watched one of Nancy Meyers’ movies and wondered how you could recreate the characters’ homes, you’re not the only one. Shoppers have been searching for ways to bring the aesthetic to various areas of the house, with queries for “Nancy Meyers living room” increasing by 2090% and “Nancy Meyers bedroom” by 1505%.

The style tends to be warm and inviting, with hints of the coastal grandmother aesthetic and eclectic charm. We’d like to think that this candle holder would fit right into one of those homes, with its sea-inspired texture and colorful design.

ZWJD Throw Pillow Covers

Nothing is more inviting than a couch with a bunch of throw pillows! And these striped pillow covers perfectly capture the coastal and cozy feels of the trend.

Pharege Vintage Picture Frame

Vintage-inspired pieces are a big part of this trend. And if you don’t have time to scour your local thrift store, there are plenty of vintage-inspired pieces that you can get online. For example, this chic picture frame. Just add a couple to your cart and swap in some of your printed family photos, then place them across your house to give it more of a Nancy Meyers feel.
