Best Jeans Trends of 2024, According to Fashion Editors
One of the many magical elements of fashion is that it is cyclical. What goes around comes back around, baby! For instance, over the last few years, we’ve seen a huge resurgence in low-rise jeans—a style that gained popularity in the ’90s and early 2000s. Similarly, baggy-style jeans that were popular during the ’90s have also come back in the last five years. We’ve seen skinny jeans come and go (and maybe… come back again?), high-rise jeans have taken over, and flared styles have manifested into chic wide-leg jeans.
Below, I’ve compiled nine jeans trends I’ve been seeing everywhere this year —both on the runway and out on the street! You’ll find different cuts, shades, and styles along with some of our top picks for each trend! Oh, and while you’re browsing, you should check out our fall shoe trends! There, you’ll see some amazing footwear options to style with all of the denim goodness happening below.
Cuffed Jeans
Get ready for cuffing season. We’ve seen this hem trend a lot. It’s a quick and simple way to switch things up, even with things you already have in your closet (which we love!)!
Low-Rise Jeans
Look, I know low rise jeans can be pretty polarizing, but you can’t deny that they’ve been everywhere recently!
Dark-Wash Jeans
Dark-wash denim has really taken over. And it’s really the perfect shade for fall and winter! Try styling them with a matching denim jacket for a sophisticated Canadian tuxedo moment.
Barrel Jeans
Barrel jeans rose in their popularity last year (the shape was seen in FW23 shows, like Alaïa above), but the style is here to stay.
Wide-Leg Jeans
Wide-leg jeans are super popular and are a great way to give a ‘fit more volume and interest.
Embellished Jeans
Embellishments are comin’ back—hot and heavy! We’ve been seeing studs on bags, on belts, and, obviously, on jeans. You gotta try it!
Straight-Leg Jeans
Who doesn’t love a good straight-leg jean? This is a classic style that will literally always be trendy!
Boot-Cut Jeans
This silhouette is great for adding a little flare (pun intended) into your look!
White Jeans
White or off-white jeans aren’t just for the summertime (I respect my elders, but on this one, they’re wrong). These trendy pants can be worn all year round with the right styling, okay?
