Autumn Winter 2024 fashion trends to start wearing now
It’s our job to keep our eyes glued to the runways, looking for fresh fashion inspiration, and the autumn/winter 2024 shows earlier this year left us with plenty of exciting ideas and buzz-worthy outfits to look forward to wearing this season.
The good news is that many of the catwalks showcased down-to-earth dressing – think the kind of chic looks that feel genuinely wearable without getting you funny looks at the supermarket, and make use of capsule pieces already in your wardrobe.

Better still, many of the trends from the past few years like ‘quiet luxury’ and Western are evolving rather than drastically changing, giving you the chance to really make the most of your clothes. Many classics are back in the spotlight for autumn/winter 2024, too, including ladylike silhouettes (think pencil skirts and slingback shoes); heritage designs (your checked coats, tweed jackets and so on, a la Claudia Winkleman in The Traitors); and suiting.
Don’t forget the sales, either; there are bound to be some stylish gems to unearth at bargain prices that will still feel fashion-forward for the coming year, so long as you know what you’re hunting for.
Here are the autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends to buy into now…
Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: Ladylike silhouettes
Ladylike glamour reigned supreme as the silhouette of the season on the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks, with the stratospheric rise of the pencil skirt, resurgence of feminine shapes and chic texture clashes all serving up a delectable slice of girl power.

Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: Highland fling
It’s time to pull out those practical parkas and check coats again and emulate Claudia Winkleman’s covetable The Traitors wardrobe. Re-energise these classics with a hearty dose of tweed and plaid prints. Mix in fresh elements such as coquettish bows, sheer tights and silky separates to uplift both heavy fabrics and your spirits.

Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: Leopard print
Whether or not you count leopard as a neutral, it was the print that took over the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks. There are so many ways to wear this trend, whether you want to go bold with a leopard-print coat (we love Rixo’s), or nod to it in more subtle ways through your accessories. The leopard trousers coveted by fashion editors are our favourite piece – they look great with a white shirt and slingbacks.

Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: Boho revival
Shearling at Chanel and double denim at Dior nodded to this retro revival for autumn/winter 2024, but the standout stars for the ’70s trend are Chloe’s chiffon blouses, aviator sunglasses and flowing boho dresses. Switch our your summer wooden platform sandals for over-the-knee boots, and finish with a trench coat.

Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: New suiting
The trend for ‘quiet luxury’ has evolved into wearable workwear, and this season is full of the cooler ways to do suits – think relaxed blazers and wide-leg trousers, as well as the rise of more feminine skirt co-ords. Style with silky blouses or camisoles to make office dressing a breeze.

Autumn/winter 2024 fashion trends: Block black
Valentino’s entirely black catwalk set the scene for the monochromatic trend ahead (just like it did in 2022 for vibrant pink). Perfect for the colder months, take it from the LBD: black never goes out of style.
