Animal print is 2025’s most divisive trend, here’s all the different ways to wear the look
Fashion’s love for the prints of the animal kingdom is boundless this season. From full-on matching sets allowing you to don the trend head-to-toe, to more subtle hints in the form of patterned footwear. We’ve seen every take on the trend this season, but just how much are we *actually* wearing it?
Here, two Cosmo staffers debate whether animal print has a place in their personal wardrobes…
I’m in!
With leopard, zebra, tiger, snake and cow prints appearing on the SS25 runways everywhere from Roberto Cavalli to Jacequemus and the street style set, too, our wardrobes are starting to resemble a zoo. While many have branded this recent influx an ‘animal print revival,’ these patterns have always been a mainstay in my style arsenal. From a zebra print belt to tiger-striped ballet pumps and a faux snakeskin bag, I rely on animal print accessories to provide a little interest in an otherwise minimal outfit. Or, if I’m feeling bold, I’ll wear my leopard print puff-sleeve blouse or cow print jacket as statement pieces. As for what to pair them with? They’ll go with pretty much everything you already own: denim, tailored trousers, satin midi skirts – you name it. I can confirm, animal prints are indeed a neutral.

I’ll pass!
Don’t get me wrong, in a year defined by Pantone’s ‘mocha mousse’ I’m all for a little colour and vibrancy in our wardrobes. I don’t, however, believe that comes in the form of animal print, unquestionably ruled by the trademark spots of leopard print. Despite many designer labels putting their mark on the pattern, I can’t help but find it quite cheap-looking and, dare I say, cheugy? Any design that simultaneously suits both the ‘mob-wife’ aesthetic *and* Tiger King is a no from me. So, I’m sorry, but you won’t see me at the checkout of any high-street retailer with a pair of leopard print jeans in my hands. In any case, TikTok culture has taught me enough about the longevity of trends, and I can’t see this one lasting.
