Julianne Moore is celebrating 22 years of marriage with her husband, Bart Freundlich — with a lighthearted look back at their wedding.
To mark the occasion on Saturday, Aug. 23, the Sirens star, 64, shared an Instagram post featuring a news article with two photos from her 2003 nuptials. One of the photos shows Moore exiting a car while wearing a light purple wedding dress and holding her then-16-month-old daughter, Liv.
The other captures Freundlich, 55, in his wedding suit as he held the hand of the couple’s son, Caleb, who was 5 at the time. The director’s groom’s look featured a white-and-purple striped shirt and a purple tie to complement Moore’s slip dress.

Moore wrote in the caption: “Happy anniversary baby. 22 years later and I still don’t know why the theme was purple. 💜.”
In the comments of the post, a number of the actress’ celebrity friends shared their well-wishes in honor of the couple’s latest wedding anniversary.
Naomi Watts wrote, “Happy anniversary🙌🙌🙌 love you guys ❤️❤️,” while Tracy Pollan commented simply, “❤️❤️❤️.”
Jewelry designer Margery Hirschey responded to Moore’s questioning of her bridal color palette, writing, “Because purple looks beautiful on redheads??? Happy Anniversary!”

Moore and Freundlich first met in 1996 on the set of The Myth of Fingerprints, which she starred in and he directed. They welcomed their son Caleb in December 1997, followed by daughter Liv in April 2002.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate New York City ceremony in August 2003. As they celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2023, Moore opened up to PEOPLE about her marriage to Freundlich — and what has helped keep their relationship solid.
“I feel happy that my marriage is thriving and intact,” she said. “That’s a really great thing.”
“I think you both have to want to be together,” she continued, reflecting on their lasting love. “Find somebody who’s as interested in you as you are in them.”

Moore also credited a life full of laughter.
“Bart has always made me laugh so hard that my eyelids start to flip up,” she told PEOPLE. “My God, does he make me laugh.”
Moore shared similar insights into her marriage during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020. When host Drew Barrymore asked the star to give her best marriage advice, she replied, ″The only thing that I can say is, I think that you both have to really want to be married. I do feel like I’ve seen situations where things aren’t working out for people, one of the members of the couple doesn’t want to be there.″
She added: ″I think if you’re both invested in it working out, and then you really have to have a good time. I think they really have to make you laugh. If they don’t make you laugh, it’s just deadly.”

Moore also noted how her many years with Freundlich have gone by in a blink.
“I mean, I think that’s what’s been nice about it. It doesn’t feel like a long time,” she said.
