5 Wedding Guest Dress Trends You’ll See At All The Chicest Nuptials In 2025

Is there any wardrobe conundrum more complex than hunting for the perfect wedding guest dress? I suppose meeting your partner’s extended family for the first time can be tricky, and then there’s knowing you’ll bump into an ex at a party, which isn’t exactly a walk in the park, sartorially speaking. However, I would argue that a wedding trumps them all, because there are few other occasions where you can meet your partner’s extended family on a church pew in the morning, then bump into an ex over themed cocktails and ’90s pop covers in the evening. Tell me a dress that delivers on both fronts, while also adapting to wildly changing temperatures over an eight-hour period and still feel comfortable after consuming several mini cones of fish and chips. Anyone? I didn’t think so.

The other issue I have personally encountered is that so many options on the market can feel a bit… naff? In many ways, the wedding guest dress landscape (particularly those in the affordable category) has become stuck in a sort of pastel-hued time-warp, and, just like the world of wedding dresses, it has long been ripe for disruption. Of course, if the more classic options make you feel your best, then all power to you, but if you prefer styles that are a little more directional, I find that the pool shrinks very rapidly. Luckily, there are an increasing number of brands (see: Solace London, Rodarte and Róhe) who are catering to a newer, more design-savvy audience – and that’s not to mention the growth of the second-hand and rental market for those looking for designer buys on a budget – and Vogue shopping is here to deliver a line-up of dresses that will sate the appetite of even the pickiest of shoppers.

The key to finding the best wedding guest dress? Stop looking for a “wedding guest dress”, which may seem ironic, considering that this might be how you came across this article. But, essentially, there’s no reason to radically change your style personality just because you’re watching your two best mates get dressed up and say some words to each other – just lean into what you usually go for, fashion-wise. For us, this means looking for inspiration on the new-season runways, and luckily spring/summer 2025 was full of lust-worthy dresses that were born to be worn for a wedding, but also reworn for all manner of formal occasions, be it birthday parties or Friday night cocktails. After all, no one likes a one-trick wardrobe pony.
